Améredia Principal Discusses Supplier Diversity Initiatives at Diverse Advertising and Media Outreach Forum

San Francisco, CA (Aug. 1, 2011)
Améredia Cofounder and Principal Pawan J. Mehra joined a panel of speakers on July 29 that discussed the different supplier diversity efforts of public utilities companies and their respective marketing and advertising partners. Améredia represented Comcast as its multicultural marketing agency of record and was joined by other Comcast diversity initiatives representatives.

The forum was assembled by the California Utilities Diversity Council, the diversity affiliate of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and was held at the CUPC offices in San Francisco.

“Public utilities represent the most essential services of everyday life – therefore, ethnic marketing is not an option,” Mehra said. “Inclusion is imperative to the public utilities industry more than it is to any other industry out there and this forum served as a conversation to see what companies are doing to reach their diverse audiences.”

The Diverse Advertising and Media Outreach Forum featured senior executives from AT&T, California American Water, Comcast, PG&E, Southern California Edison, Time Warner Cable and Verizon, among other California-based utilities companies, along with their agencies of record and ethnic media representatives. Attendees expressed opinions on the significance of ethnic marketing and the different methods of successful outreach.

Encouraged by the latest Census figure, multicultural marketing has taken the forefront of business discussions around the nation. Améredia has for seven years been Comcast’s multicultural agency of record, overseeing the marketing and advertising initiatives aimed at more than 17 different ethnicities in the U.S.
