San Francisco, CA (Nov. 9, 2011)
San Francisco-based multicultural marketing agency Améredia was honored by the International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA) on October 31 with a Gold Davey Award for its newly launched agency website that showcases its cultural expertise, creative prowess and digital capabilities.
In determining Gold and Silver winners, entries are judged on their merits based on a standard of excellence as determined by the IAVA, considering the category entered. Gold Winners generally receive a score of 9.0 or above and Silver Winners receive a score of 7.0 to 8.9 on a 10-point scale.
“For a creative agency, a website is more than just a place to be found on the web – it’s a perfect platform to present your artistic abilities," said Sam Jhans, creative director, Améredia. “Our new website not only demonstrates our creative strengths but also our multicultural focus and team-driven culture.”
Launched in May 2011, the Améredia website (http://www.ameredia.com) was a complete redesign that portrays the agency’s multiculturalism through a clean, colorful, candid and user-friendly website experience. Team Améredia came together during the development of the website under the leadership of Jhans and supported by Senior Art Director Shinji Hasegawa.
The home page features a tiled collage of team portraits that give a glimpse into the cultural heritage and personality of Améredia's diverse team members. From full-faced to half-hidden by a caricature that depicts the team’s personal favorite activity, the half-portrait-half-caricature approach is representative of the inherent diversity within the globally-drawn agency.
Social media icons line the top-right navigation bar, linking to the agency’s Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, réd newsletter and améredian blog pages. Additionally, social media, newsletter, recent work and news banners are placed within the home-page collage as prominent call-outs to the most relevant content a user would look for. The work page is color-categorized by tactics, clients and ethnicities for increased accessibility.
Améredians – neon-colored figures representing team Améredia – and multicultural imagery can be found throughout the website. An omnipresent Améredian figure at the bottom left corner of all website pages provides access to valuable multicultural marketing resources, including ethnic demographics and media information.
The Davey Award is telling of Améredia’s interactive and digital design capabilities across multiple languages and adds to its list of industry-wide recognitions including the American Design, Communicator, Hermes, Mark, TELLY, MarCom, and other awards. The agency’s multicultural and diversity-focused creative work, initiatives, growth and innovation have been lauded by other hallmark organizations such as the ADCOLOR Industry Coalition, Diversity Business, the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications, the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Business Times.
