Fourth largest Asian American group with a population of 1,110,207 (Vietnamese only).

About 1.68 million Asians reported more then one Asian group or race in Census 2000 and are not included in these numbers. Actual number of Vietnamese would thus be more.

Population growth rates of 89.2% from 1990 to 2000 and 125.3% from 1980 to 1990.

Comprise for 10.95% of the Asian American population and 0.39% of the US population.

Of the total, 564,424 live in the Western states, 335,679 live in the Southern States, 115,487 live in the Northeastern states, and 106,938 live in the Midwestern States.

"Overseas Vietnamese", refers to communities of Vietnamese living outside Vietnam in a diaspora; more so in USA and Canada.

Orange County has the largest concentration of Vietnamese Americans and is the largest Vietnamese population concentration outside of Vietnam.

Within Orange County, the cities of Westminster (30.7%) and Garden Grove (21.4%) have the highest concentration of Vietnamese Americans.

Westminster is considered the main cultural center of Vietnamese Americans with several in-language media outlets originating from this and adjacent areas.
